The First Stamp

The first adhesive postage stamp was published in 6 May 1840 in England. The value of this stamp was one penny at that time. The design of the stamp was simple. Queen Victoria's head was engraved on the stamp. The country name was not included on the stamp. Before the invention of the stamp, the postage was paid by the receiver.
